The waterfall is very picturesque - from the rock near the  Dniester hovers a huge 3,5 - 4 m) travertine boulders, across the entire area of which drain and fall drops of water. These droplets, going together, formed a stream that runs to the Dniester itself. The name of the waterfall comes from the fact that the dropping droplets resemble tears.

Waterfall Maiden Tears, Yaremche

“Waterfall Maiden Tears” is an only   1.5meters single-cascade waterfall. Near the waterfall are nice places for rest and a picnic, there is a  big wooden gazebo, so you can hide from the rain and enjoy your sandwich, don't forget to make it at home! Or just have a little rest from a long walk on the comfy benches.

Visiting a waterfall has cost nothing, but you can be charged for staying in the wooden buildings, it’s just a small fee.  You even can get a little swim in the hot day right by the waterfall, also if you would like to feel like in the Jacuzzi, don’t! This is a bad thought, you can get a big stone on your head instead, Zhonka is a mountain river, so be careful. Mountain rivers are very strong and fast, they break stones also can carry fragments downstream.  You may see it as a little stream, but after spring drain Zhonka can be very rough and can show you a harsh character.

HOW TO GET:

The way from  Yaremche to “Waterfall Maiden Tears”  is not a bad road,  starts with the asphalted road, then concrete and then “classic Carpathian”narrow country road. There is a souvenir market nearby as well, where you can get some stuff for your friends and family. Do not reach market near the railway bridge across the Prut turn on  Hrushevsky street through the railway. Keep this direction to Open-air cage farm and make a stop,  you can meet part of Carpathian fauna -eagles, wild boards, noble deers. There is a marked blue path from this farm to the waterfall ( look for the same color on the trees and rocks). This path of the road you can overcome not only walking yourself you can use horses and bike. Enjoy!
